Pieces over 4 oz will still have a pound rate charge that will apply to the weight above 4 oz. USPS First Class Package Service is the cheapest way to ship packages and poly mailers that are up to 15.999 ounces. Purchase First Class Mail postage from the USPS website or local Post Office directly. To qualify, your envelope must be less than 13 ounces and not more than 15 inches long or more than 12 inches high or more than 3/4 inch thick otherwise, you’ll use USPS First Class Package Service.
USPS First Class Mail is for mailing postcards, letters, and large envelopes (also known as flats). Similarly, a 13-ounce shipment costs 5.50 for first-class, 7.50 for 2-day priority mail, and 7.20 for flat rate small box priority mail option. USPS First Class is far and away the best option for sending items weighing less than one pound. The same package sent the same distance would take two days and cost 7.15 for those using their packaging and 6.70 for senders using the flat rate option of priority mail.
